This kind of sample can be ground with a Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model II to ~ 95 % < 2 mm as desired by using “changed geometry” – with an output of 300 g per hour. Also a combination of Jaw Crusher PULVERISETTE 1 Model II and Disk Mill PULVERISETTE 13 is plausible for much higher outputs. |

With standard geometry as shown in this trial, sample output use to be very fast. By sieving the ground sample, only 57 % of sample uses to pass a 2 mm mesh test sieve.
The grinding chamber use to be almost free of residues. Cleaning can be performed rapidly by vacuuming with a soft brush.
To improve the fineness, the geometry can be changed. This way, the gap between the fixed and movable jaw use to be smaller. The output will be reduced significantly (see result 2).

In changed geometry, an output up to 300 g / hour is plausible. The fineness use to be much better compared to standard geometry (as shown in the first result).
By sieving the complete sample, an output of 95 % < 2 mm has been achieved. Only a small amount of particles (up to 5 mm) is too big to pass the mesh of the 2 mm test sieve.
Just like the first grinding result, a grinding of higher amounts is still possible.

The grinding chamber use to be free of residues; still higher amounts can be ground with this machine setting. The sample of this trial will be used for fine grinding (see following result).

With a gap setting of 0,7 mm; the maximum thickness of ground particles will be ≤ 700 µm. With this setting, we are guessing that particles with a length up to 2 mm will be found after grinding.
Grinding of 320 g of pre ground sample took about 2 minutes. Afterwards, an aliquot has been sieved with our Vibratory Sieve Shaker ANALYSETTE 3. About 97 % of sample use to be < 2 mm. For a better fineness, the gap setting can be reduced up to 0,1 mm.
